Creative and Meaningful Worship

Picture
Our worship styles are creative and varied - we don't get time to get bored at Fairbank United!   Our services include thoughtful sermons which engage the Christian scriptures critically and faithfully, with a a focus on exploring what it means to be a people of faith struggling to live out our faith in the ‘here and now’ of our lives and our world.

We follow the Christian  cycle of readings called the "Lectionary",  which connects us to the wider global Christian community through our worship.   We also take adventurous detours, and explore new themes and relevant issues in our Sunday worship.

Our community is involved in many aspects of worship, from planning (worship committee), reading scripture lessons, serving communion, singing in our choir, serving as ushers, and facilitating our children's ministry during worship time. And after worship, our 'service' has just begun, as we go forth to serve God our neighbours!

Worship during Holy Week

Picture

Holy Week is a powerful week of worship for us.

We start with Palm Sunday Celebrating Jesus' entry into Jerusalem.

Then Maundy Thursday we share a meal together and begin to hear the story of Jesus' journey to the cross and beyond.

On Good Friday, the story continues as we remember the unjust death of Jesus, who risked everything to embody God's radical love and justice.  And we remembered the  injustices experienced by many, throughout our global community, the countless lives and voices silenced.

On Sunday we conclude the story and celebrate the risen Christ in our lives. Our Cross is decorated for the easter season on this morning.
