The United Church of Canada's Logo
In August 2012, the 41st General Council of the United Church of Canada revised it's official crest by adding the colours of the Aboriginal Medicine Wheel, to acknowledge our commitment as a church to solidarity with Aboriginal people. For more information about the symbolism of the United church Crest and the Aboriginal Medicine Wheel, please visit the following link at the United Church of Canada's website

In this time of COVID-19, we pray:
When we aren't sure, God,
help us be calm;
when information comes from all sides, correct and not,
help us to discern;
when fear makes it hard to breathe, and anxiety seems to be the order of the day,
slow us down, God;
help us to reach out with our hearts, when we can't touch with our hands;
help us to be socially connected, when we have to be socially distant;
help us to love as perfectly as we can, knowing that "perfect love casts out all fear."
For the doctors, we pray, for the nurses, we pray,
for the technicians and the janitors and the
aides and the caregivers, we pray, for the researchers and theorists,
the epidemiologists and investigators, for those who are sick,
and those who are grieving, we pray, for all who are affected,
all around the world...
we pray for safety, for health, for wholeness.
May we feed the hungry, give drink to the thirsty,
clothe the naked and house those without homes;
may we walk with those who feel they are alone,
and may we do all that we can to heal the sick--
in spite of the epidemic,
in spite of the fear.
Help us, O God,
that we might help each other.
In the love of the Creator,
in the name of the Healer,
in the life of the Holy Spirit that is in all and with all,
we pray.
May it be so.
United Church Creed
We are not alone,
we live in God’s world
We believe in God:
who has created and is creating,
who has come in Jesus,
the Word made flesh,
to reconcile and make new,
who works in us and others
by the Spirit.
We trust in God.
We are called to be the Church:
to celebrate God’s presence,
to live with respect in Creation,
to love and serve others,
to seek justice and resist evil,
to proclaim Jesus, crucified and risen,
our judge and our hope.
In life, in death, in life beyond death,
God is with us.
We are not alone.
Thanks be to God.

Statement of Welcome - Fairbank United Church
In response to the amazing love of God embodied in the life and ministry of Jesus, Fairbank United Church seeks to be a radically loving and welcoming community of faith, extending a warm welcome to all who have ever felt excluded by the church.
You’re welcome here if you’re female, male, or transgender…
You’re welcome here if you’re rich or poor, single, married, or divorced, gay, straight, or bisexual …
You’re welcome here if your Asian, Aboriginal, Black or White, or learning English as a second language …
We extend a special welcome to those who are crying new-borns, skinny as a rail or struggling to lose a few pounds…
You’re welcome if you can sing like Anne Murray or can’t carry a note in a bucket…
You’re welcome here if you’re “just browsing,” just woke up, or just got out of jail…
We don’t care if you’re a life-long United Church member, have never stepped foot in a church, or haven’t attended church since little Joey’s Baptism…
We extend a special welcome to those who are over 60 but haven’t grown up yet, and teenagers who feel like they’re growing up too fast…
We welcome soccer moms, hockey dads, starving artists, tree-huggers, latte-sippers, vegetarians, junk-food eaters…
If you’re in recovery, or still addicted, or blew all your offering money at the race track, you’re welcome here…
You’re welcome if you’re having problems or down in the dumps or if you don’t like “organized religion” - we’ve been there too…
We offer a special welcome to those who think the earth is flat, work too hard, don’t work, can’t spell, or wanted to go to church because grandma is in town…
We welcome those who are inked, pierced or both…
We offer a special welcome to those who could use a prayer right now, or had religion shoved down your throat as a kid or got lost in traffic and wound up here by mistake...
We welcome people of diverse abilities. Our historic church building is not yet accessible however we are working hard to make our church fully accessible for all people!
We welcome tourists, seekers and doubters, bleeding hearts … and of course, you! Following Jesus’ example of radical hospitality, we invite you to join us in our shared ministry as a community of faith so that together we can embody God’s reign of love, justice and wholeness in our world.
This Welcome Statement was approved at the January 2013 Annual General Meeting of Fairbank United Church
Adapted, with thanks, from the welcome statement of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Community, Daytona Beach, Fla.
